We love this time of year: The warmer weather is on its way, and the days are slowly but surely getting lighter and longer. That can only mean one thing at The Kentish Hare – we’re gearing up for spring and summer, and the many foodie highlights that come with them!
There’s lots to look forward to in 2019, as James and Chris Tanner will be hitting the food festivals with some fantastic cooking demonstrations, as well as hosting a selection of appetising events right here at our Kent pub and restaurant, and beyond.

Taster Night with Angellica Bell
Wednesday April 10, The Kentish Hare
We can’t wait to welcome Angellica Bell to The Kentish Hare for an unmissable taster event. With drinks at 7pm, to be seated at 7.30pm, the Celebrity MasterChef winner and TV presenter will be joining head chef David Boswell and the kitchen team in creating an intimate five-course meal, showcasing her unique culinary flair and expertise, while talking about her illustrious career to date.
Bromley College Taster Night at BR6
Monday May 20, Bromley College
Join Chris and James Tanner for an unforgettable experience at Bromley College’s BR6 Restaurant. As patrons of its Hospitality, Food and Enterprise Career College, the Tanners have a long partnership with Bromley, from opening the restaurant in 2015, to hosting special charity dinners. Diners can look forward to a sumptuous meal, cooked by the Kentish Hare team, and prepared with help from the students.
Tuesday June 18 to Saturday June 22, Ascot Racecourse
Returning for his third year, James Tanner will once again be cooking at Royal Ascot in 2019! Head to the walk-in Queen Anne Kitchen, where the chef will be serving a selection of Tanner-inspired mains and desserts. This casual dining, no-reservations pop-up restaurant was set up when James made his Royal Ascot debut in 2017, and is a must-visit for James’ signature brasseries-style dishes.
Pub in the Park
Friday July 12 to Sunday July 14, Dunorlan Park
We’re back at Pub in the Park for its second year in Tunbridge Wells! Hosted by Jason Atherton and Monica Galetti, this three-day feast will see James, Chris and the team cook some festival-style favourites, accompanied by the likes of Tom Kerridge, Angela Hartnett and Atul Kochhar, with live music from Rick Astley, Basement Jaxx, Will Young, Gabrielle, KT Tunstall and more.
Taste of Kent
Saturday September 7 and Sunday September 8, Bradbourne House
New for 2019, the Taste of Kent food festival celebrates and showcases the best food and drink from the Garden of England. Don’t miss James and Chris cooking up a storm in the Demo Theatre at 11am on the Sunday, followed by fellow chefs like Rosemary Shrager, Hari Ghotra and Matt Sworder. The perfect way to see out your gourmet summer of food!
