The perfect day out at The Kentish Hare

We’re blessed at The Kentish Hare to not only be based in a beautiful building, but a serene and idyllic part of the world as well. From our stunning pub garden to a number of local gems to visit, explore and discover, there are always plenty of reasons to visit!

With so many places to go, things to do and sights to see, you’ll be well and truly spoiled for choice when deciding how to make a day of it in and around Bidborough. Join us as we take a look at the many ways to spend the perfect day out at The Kentish Hare…

Al fresco dining
With its meticulously manicured greenery, resplendent patio and tranquil atmosphere, the pub’s garden is just as appealing as its stylish interiors. On a warm, sunny day, it’s the ideal setting for a spot of lunch with friends, dinner with family, or a relaxed catch-up over drinks. Once you’ve enjoyed an afternoon ramble in the Kent countryside, this is the only place you’ll want to unwind with a well-earned treat from our menu.

Local attractions
Situated in the village of Bidborough, we’re a stone’s throw from some captivating venues and attractions. Nearby, Penshurst Place, Tonbridge Castle and Haysden Country Park are less than three miles away, while the royal spa town of Tunbridge Wells is under four. You can also be at Chiddingstone Castle within 20 minutes, and Riverhill Himalayan Gardens in just over 10, plus don’t miss Hever Castle, Ightham Mote and Knole, all inside 10 miles.

Delicious dishes
We love this time of year at The Kentish Hare – with our seasonal fare in full swing, there’s no better time to take a seat and tuck in. Our main menu’s crispy tiger prawn taco and 45-day-aged native rump cap are to die for, as are the ‘final flings’ of ricotta and vanilla cheesecake, vanilla crème brûlée, and 75% Tanzania chocolate mille-feuille. Whatever takes your fancy, you’re sure to find something you love.

Unmissable events
The Tanner Brothers have cooked at Royal Ascot and Pub in the Park this summer, serving food from The Kentish Hare and Barbican Kitchen. Now, we’re seeing out the warmer months with our ‘Celebration of the Sea’ taster evening on Friday September 6! Created by head chef David Boswell, this special event features dishes championing the finest seafood, with 5% of sales supporting The Fishermen’s Mission. Book now on 01892 525709, or gm@thekentishhare.com.

Picturesque walks
With the Garden of England on our doorstep, we’re perfectly positioned for a leisurely stroll, invigorating hike or scenic cycle through the countryside. Not far from the pub, you can take in breath-taking views of the surrounding landscape, while routes covering the likes of Tunbridge Wells and Groombridge, and Penshurst and Hever are readily available too. If you’re passing through en route, a visit to The Kentish Hare is par for the course!
